What Is a VI Peel?

The VI Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel that can improve the appearance of your skin in just a few short weeks. It combines powerful yet safe ingredients, including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and tretinoin. This unique blend of ingredients makes the VI Peel one of the most effective peels on the market today.

The VI Peel is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It can treat various concerns, such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. Most people require 3-6 peels spaced 4-6 weeks apart for best results. After that, maintenance peels can be done as needed to help keep the skin looking its best.

VI Peel Benefits

There are many benefits to getting the VI Peel, including the following:

Treating fine lines and wrinkles

The VI Peel can help to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production.

Treating sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and Melasma

The powerful ingredients in the VI Peel can help to fade away sun damage by lightening dark spots and patches of hyperpigmentation.

Treating acne scars and uneven skin textures

If you are struggling with acne scars, the VI Peel can help to smooth out your skin's texture and improve its overall appearance. It can reduce oil production and inflammation, helping to prevent future breakouts. The VI Peel can also help to visibly reduce melasma and keratosis pilaris on the skin.

The VI Peel is FDA-approved and is deemed safe for all skin types. Plus, it has minimal downtime associated with the treatment. Most people need approximately 5 days of downtime before they can resume their normal activities.

VI Peel Treatment Process

The VI Peel solution process first requires a 30-min office visit to apply the peel. Then, the peel needs to remain on the skin for four hours to take full effect. The process begins with our licensed skin care esthetician thoroughly cleaning your skin to remove any oils, makeup, or other products. Next, they will apply the VI Peel solution to your face. During this step, you may feel a slight tingling or burning sensation, but it should not be painful.

After applying the solution, our professional will explain how you should remove the VI Peel at home once your treatment time is over. You will be provided with an after-care kit and detailed instructions on properly caring for your skin to minimize side effects and ensure optimal results.

Typically the skin on the area treated starts to flake within three to five days after your treatment. This process is entirely normal. Skin in other areas of the body can flake for seven to ten days. After the flaking has subsided, you will notice an improvement in your skin's overall appearance. You can expect to see significant results on your face after seven days. Your skin will look brighter, firmer, and more evenly toned. However, many of our clients require multiple treatments to achieve their desired results.

VI Peel Aftercare and Side Effects

After your VI Peel treatment, you will need to avoid direct sunlight and wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher whenever you are outdoors. You should also avoid hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms for at least a week after your treatment. For the first three to five days, you will likely experience some redness, swelling, and peeling of the skin. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. If they are severe or persist for more than a few days, it is important to contact Cienega Med Spa for additional guidance.

Please avoid picking at or scratching your skin during this time, as it can cause undesirable results. Gently washing your face with a mild cleanser two to three times per day can help to keep your skin clean and healthy during the healing process. It is also important to keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water and using a moisturizer at least twice daily.

Like any skin treatment, there is a small risk of side effects with the VI Peel. These side effects may include:
- Redness
- Swelling
- Peeling
- Bruising
- Itching
- Burning sensation
- Temporary darkening of the skin
- Temporary lightening of the skin
- Allergic reaction

Please note that if you have a darker complexion, you may be more likely to experience temporary skin darkening after your treatment. This side effect is usually not permanent and will resolve within a few weeks. You may want to consult with our licensed skin care professional before undergoing the VI Peel treatment if you have a darker complexion to ensure it is the right treatment for you.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, your hormone change makes your skin more sensitive. We will not perform VI Peel treatments under all these circumstances as we want all our clients to have the best results possible. We will advise on other treatments that may be more suitable for you. We have several treatments that are specially designed for expecting and new mothers.
