Lip fillers are injections to the lips to increase volume and shape and to bring more balance to the overall face.
Lip injections utilize a water based injection material that is safe, soft and natural looking to increase fullness where needed.
Lip injections can be done with a variety of injectable fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma and the new Volbella.
What Products Can Be Used and Why?
The typical product to use for lip fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural compound found in your body. Its a molecule that holds 1,000 times its weight in water. Think of it like tiny water balloon molecules.
Because these molecules hold water, this is what provides that “full” effect on the lips or anywhere else in the face that requires injections.
Reversing the Aging Process
As we age, we naturally lose hyaluronic acid in our faces, so receiving injectable filler treatments help to reverse the signs of aging.
For the purposes of lip injections, these fillers provide fullness or structure where needed to correct, balance and enhance the facial features.
Hollywood’s Best Kept Secret
More people than you realize receive injectables to their lips and faces. It was celebrities have used for years to gently reverse the signs of aging and to perfect their faces.
How Does Lip Injections Work?
When coming to Cienega Med Spa, we begin your experience with a consultation to discuss your desired results and outcome. We ask that you bring a few photos of your desired outcome and upon consultation with your nurse we will help you learn the best method of achieving your goals.
Which Product To Use for Lip Injections?
We discuss the myriad of different products, explaining how each may work differently and will help you choose the appropriate product to inject.
Do Lip Injections Hurt?
You may elect to receive numbing cream prior to injection to increase your comfort. Many opt for treatment however without numbing prior.
Once you begin your treatment, your nurse will determine the exact placement and strategy to best achieve your desired outcome. Your nurse will inject small amounts of the product into your lips to provide a cohesive, smooth and soft effect, leaving the product virtually undetectable. This provides a “seamless” transition from your lips and the product so that your new lips will appear as your own, and not “augmented” in a negative way.
Do Lip Injections Feel Unnatural?
When kissing your lips feel as your own, as they are virtually undetectable as adhere to your lips naturally and smoothly.
How Soon Can You See Results of Lip Fillers?
Once your treatment is completed, your lips will immediately look fuller. Its near instant gratification with lips injections.
Is There Downtime From Lip Fillers?
You may continue with your normal activities post treatment, however our recommendations are to avoid strenuous exercise or a drinking the night of your injections to reduce your chances of swelling and bruising.
How Long Do Lip Fillers Last?
Depending on the product used, lip injections typically last several months. Some may opt for additional fullness, and thus would require more injections at future visits.
How Often Do I Have To Come Back?
Typically we recommend receiving one syringe maximum at any one time. This is to allow the lips to naturally form to the fillers.
What If I Have Thin Lips?
Those with thin lips may ultimately opt for several injection sessions to achieve ultimate goals, this most likely would be required over multiples visits over multiple weeks. Once your goal is achieved, you may return for touchup sessions approximately 6 months to 1 year thereafter.
Those who talk more, may feel the product does not last as long, and thus may feel they need touch up injections 3 to 6 months after treatment.
Who can get fillers?
Anyone can receive lip fillers! For those with cold sores or herpes breakouts, we recommend to wait until the breakout has completely healed before coming in for treatment.
When Can I Get My Fillers?
We recommend to NOT receive injections before a special event or photoshoot, as some people may experience swelling or bruising.
How Much Downtime Will I Have?
If you are one to experience swelling or bruising, this typically lasts 3-6 days.
