What Are Wrinkle Relaxers?

Neuromodulators, also called toxin injections or wrinkle relaxers are injectable treatments that temporarily reduce the movement of the underlying muscles. This process will soften muscle action and ultimately reduce any tightness, fine lines or wrinkling that result.

Toxins also target dynamic wrinkles, the lines that form from repeated expressions like squinting, frowning, and raising your eyebrows. At Cienega Medical, we offer three FDA-approved wrinkle relaxers: Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin among others.

Each uses botulinum toxin type A to block nerve signals that trigger muscle contraction, but they differ in formulation, onset speed, and how they spread beneath the skin. Choosing the right wrinkle relaxer depends on the treatment area, your skin, and how your body has responded to previous treatments. Some patients prefer Dysport for broader areas like the forehead, while others choose Xeomin for its purified “naked” formulation. Your provider will recommend the best fit during a complimentary consultation at any of our three Los Angeles locations in West Hollywood, Calabasas, and Santa Monica.

Which Product Is Right for Me?

How Our Pricing Works

Each brand has its own unit pricing and volume threshold. Your provider recommends the product and dose for your treatment, then confirms your total.

Botox

$15 / unit A la carte, 1 to 49 units
$11 / unit 50+ unit special
Best Botox rate $9 / unit 100 unit special

Dysport

$5 / unit A la carte, up to 149 units
Best Dysport rate $3 / unit 150+ unit special

Xeomin

$15 / unit A la carte, 1 to 49 units
Best Xeomin rate $9 / unit 50+ unit special
$9 / unit 100 units: $900 total. May share at the same visit.

Why Dysport numbers look different

Units are specific to each product and cannot be compared or converted between brands. A lower price per unit does not necessarily mean a lower treatment cost. Your provider chooses the appropriate dose and explains the total for your plan.

How Xeomin pricing works

Xeomin is $15 per unit below 50 units, or $9 per unit from 50 units. Botox reaches its $9 per-unit rate at the 100-unit special. These are menu prices; they do not mean the products or doses are interchangeable.

The volume specials

Volume pricing starts at 50 units for Botox and Xeomin, or 150 units for Dysport. The rates and thresholds are shown above. Botox volume offers and the 100-unit Xeomin offer can be shared with a friend at the same visit. Each person has their own consultation and treatment. Units cannot be banked for a later visit.

Considering Xeomin? Our menu includes a 64-unit Xeomin option for $576. Your provider assesses your treatment areas and confirms the product, dose and total for your plan.

  • What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?

All three are botulinum toxin type A products that relax muscles to smooth wrinkles. The key differences are in their formulation. Botox and Dysport contain complexing proteins, while Xeomin is a "naked" neurotoxin with no additives. Dysport tends to spread more, making it popular for larger areas like the forehead. Your provider can explain which may work best for your goals.

  • How do I choose between the three options?

All three relax the same wrinkle-causing muscles; the differences are feel and fit. Botox is the most familiar with the longest track record. Dysport kicks in a little faster and spreads softly, which suits broader areas like the forehead. Xeomin is a purified formulation and is where our specials run. Whichever you pick, pricing rewards treating your full plan in one visit, and your provider will confirm the right product and dose in the room.

  • How long do results last?

Most wrinkle relaxers last 3-4 months, though this varies by individual, treatment area, and product used. Some patients find Dysport kicks in faster (2-3 days vs 5-7 for Botox) but may wear off slightly sooner. Regular maintenance treatments can help results last longer over time.

  • What areas can be treated?

Common treatment areas include forehead lines, frown lines (the "11s" between the brows), and crow's feet. Advanced applications include brow lifts, bunny lines, lip flip, chin dimpling, jawline slimming (masseter), and neck bands. Your provider will assess which areas would benefit most.

  • Does it hurt?

Most patients describe a brief pinching sensation. The needles used are very fine, and treatments take only 15-20 minutes. No numbing is typically needed, though we can apply ice or topical numbing if you prefer.

  • Is there any downtime?

No downtime is required. You can return to normal activities immediately. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours and not lying flat for 4 hours after treatment. Minor redness or swelling at injection sites typically resolves within an hour.

  • Can I switch between products?

Yes. Many patients try different options over time. Since all three products work through the same mechanism, switching is safe and straightforward. Your provider can help you evaluate whether a different product might better suit your needs.

  • How soon will I see results?

Dysport often shows results in 2-3 days. Botox and Xeomin typically take 5-7 days for full effect, with peak results at about 2 weeks. Your provider will schedule a follow-up if needed to assess results and make any touch-up adjustments.
