How a visit works

Book or Call

2 min

Schedule online or call any of our three Los Angeles locations. Same-day appointments often available.

Brief Intake Screening

5-10 min

A licensed clinician reviews your symptoms, history, allergies, and current medications. This step is required for every Rx injection.

Protocol-Driven Dose

2 min

The clinician selects the appropriate medication and dose based on standing orders developed by Medical Director Dr. Neal Kumar.

Single Push & Brief Observation

10-15 min

Medication is administered IM or slow IV push. A short observation confirms you are responding well before discharge.

IDEAL FOR

When this is the right service

These injections are for symptom relief, not general wellness. If you are looking for an energy boost, immune support, or vitamin replenishment, our IV and IM shot pages are a better fit.

Acute nausea or vomiting

Sudden onset that needs reliable antiemetic support.

Migraine or acute pain

Musculoskeletal or migraine pain not responding to over-the-counter options.

Itchy hives or allergy flares

Antihistamine rescue for sudden allergic symptoms.

Burning reflux or indigestion

Severe heartburn that has not responded to oral antacids.

Inflammation flare-ups

Short-term corticosteroid support when swelling drives symptoms.

Looking for wellness?

Try Vitamin Push or Vitamin IM Shots instead.

Not for emergencies

Chest pain, breathing trouble, anaphylaxis, or high fever require urgent care or 911.

Unsure if this is right for you? Book the visit. Our intake screening confirms appropriateness before any medication is administered.

What to expect, before and after

Onset and duration

Most patients feel meaningful relief within 15 to 60 minutes. Full effect and duration vary by drug, dose, and your condition. Your clinician will set expectations during the intake.

Side effects to know

  • Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can cause drowsiness — arrange a ride if needed.
  • Ketorolac (Toradol) can cause mild stomach upset; we will recommend timing with food when relevant.
  • Transient soreness at the injection site is common and resolves quickly.
  • Your clinician will review the full risk profile before administering.

Driving and aftercare

If you receive a sedating medication or do not feel stable, please arrange transportation. Most patients can drive after a brief observation period. Hydrate, rest, and follow any specific return precautions your clinician provides.

What this page covers

These are prescription-grade, single-push injections for acute symptoms. They are not vitamin shots. Each visit includes a brief clinical intake, targeted selection of an appropriate medication, and an intramuscular or slow IV push dose when indicated. Our team follows physician-developed protocols overseen by Medical Director Dr. Neal Kumar. The goal is simple, safe symptom relief, without emergency-room wait times, for common issues like nausea, migraine, allergic hives, inflammatory flares, or reflux.

FAQ

Click on a question to see more

  • How is this different from a B12 shot or vitamin injection?

These are prescription medications targeted at specific symptoms — nausea, pain, allergy, inflammation, reflux. Vitamin injections support nutrient status and general wellness. Different goal, different category, different page. See Vitamin IM Shots or Vitamin Push if wellness is what you need.

  • Do I need an outside prescription?

No. Our licensed clinicians evaluate you on site and administer under MD-supervised standing-order protocols overseen by Medical Director Dr. Neal Kumar.

  • Is this covered by insurance?

Cienega Medical is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance. You can use HSA or FSA cards. We can provide an itemized receipt on request.

  • Can I just walk in?

Appointments are recommended so we can minimize your wait. Same-day availability is often possible. Walk-ins are accommodated when the schedule allows; scheduled appointments take priority.

  • How quickly will I feel relief?

Many patients notice improvement within 15 to 60 minutes. Onset varies by medication and the severity of your symptoms. Your clinician will set realistic expectations during intake.

  • Who will administer my injection?

Our licensed registered nurses, working under MD-supervised standing orders. Every injection follows a clinical protocol that includes screening, medication selection, administration, and observation.

  • Can I drive after?

If you receive a sedating medication like diphenhydramine (Benadryl), please arrange transportation. For most other medications, you can drive after a brief observation period.

  • When should I go to urgent care or an ER instead?

Severe or red-flag symptoms — chest pain, breathing difficulty, suspected anaphylaxis, high fever, or rapidly worsening symptoms — require urgent care or 911. Our service is for symptom relief in stable patients who do not need emergency-level care.
