How it works

Start with a free consultation

Tell a nurse practitioner about your health history and goals. There is no obligation to buy medication.

Review your options

If treatment is appropriate and you choose to proceed, your provider reviews the medications with you. The review fee is charged once for that encounter, including prescriptions ordered separately that day.

Choose your bottles

Pay for the bottles prescribed for you, with no subscription or automatic refill. Buying several together does not add another fee to the same medication review. You see the total before agreeing.

Pickup with teaching, or delivery

At clinic pickup, we show you how to use your medication and answer your questions. This teaching is included in the review fee. Shipping within California is available when your prescription and delivery address are eligible. We confirm availability and any delivery charge before payment.

What the Lipo-MIC B Shot Is Studied For

The Lipo-MIC B shot combines three lipotropic compounds, methionine, inositol, and choline, with vitamin B12. Lipotropics are nutrients involved in how the liver processes fat, and B12 supports energy metabolism. It is a nutrient injection rather than a peptide, and it is popular as a quick add-on for people focused on metabolism and energy.

Support for how the liver processes and mobilizes fat

Energy metabolism, from the B12 component

A convenient add-on to a weight or wellness plan

Fast, in-and-out administration at any location

Important Information

Lipotropic injections are not FDA-approved to treat any condition, and they have not been shown in controlled trials to produce meaningful weight loss on their own. Individual results vary.

At Cienega Medical the Lipo-MIC B bottle is available by prescription only. You start with a consultation with one of our nurse practitioners, who reviews your health history, your goals, and whether it is appropriate for you. If it is, they write the prescription. If it is not, they will tell you that too.

What Is a Lipo-MIC B Shot?

The Lipo-MIC B shot, sometimes just called a lipo shot, is an injection that combines three lipotropic compounds with vitamin B12. The letters stand for the three: methionine, an essential amino acid; inositol, a compound involved in cell signaling; and choline, an essential nutrient involved in how the liver processes fat. B12 is added because it plays a role in energy metabolism and because many people are low in it. It is given as a quick intramuscular injection and it is one of the treatments we have offered the longest. It is available as a take-home bottle, prescribed after a free consultation, with the schedule set by your provider.

FAQ

  • What is Lipo-MIC B, and what is it studied for?

Lipo-MIC B is a take-home injection of methionine, inositol and choline, the three lipotropic compounds the MIC stands for, plus vitamin B12. It is not a peptide. On its own it does not cause weight loss, and we will not tell you otherwise. Lipotropic injections have not been shown in controlled clinical trials to produce meaningful weight loss by themselves, and people most often use them as one part of a broader plan, which is what a free consultation is for.

  • Is Lipo-MIC B FDA-approved?

No. The compounded Lipo-MIC B formulation is not FDA-approved. Vitamin and nutrient injections like this one are prescribed at a provider's discretion after an individual evaluation, which is what the free consultation is for.

  • What are the risks of Lipo-MIC B, and who should avoid it?

Lipo-MIC B is not right for everyone. Your nurse practitioner reviews your health history, current medications and any existing conditions before prescribing and will tell you if it is not a fit. Bring your current medication list to the free consultation.

  • What does it cost, and what is included?

Bottle pricing is shown above. If you go ahead there is one medication review fee on top of that, charged once for that review even when your prescriptions go out as separate orders the same day. It covers your provider's review, and if you collect at the clinic, the packing and the walkthrough of how to inject it. The consultation itself is free and you are not committed to anything after it.

  • How do I start?

Book a free consultation with a nurse practitioner, online or at any of our three locations. They go through your health history, your current medications and what you are trying to achieve, then tell you whether this is a sensible fit. Not everyone is, and if you are, they write the prescription and you pay for your bottles plus the one review fee.

  • Where does my prescription come from?

Your prescription is filled by BelieveRX, a licensed U.S. 503A compounding pharmacy, and prepared for you specifically after your consultation. We do not sell research-grade or gray-market product. A licensed pharmacy is not the same thing as FDA approval of the formulation itself, and your nurse practitioner will be straight with you about that.

  • How long does one bottle last, and how do refills work?

That depends on what your provider prescribes, so it is not something we can put a number on here. Your nurse practitioner tells you at your review roughly how long a bottle should last for you and when it would make sense to order again. There is no subscription and no automatic refill, so you order again only when you decide to.

  • Can I collect it or have it shipped?

Both. Collect at West Hollywood, Santa Monica or Calabasas, where we pack it for you and show you how to inject it, all covered by the review fee. Or we ship anywhere in California, once we confirm your address is eligible and tell you any delivery charge before you pay.

How Much Does Lipo-MIC B Shot Cost?

Start with a free consultation. If you proceed, pay for your prescribed bottles plus $49 for a medication review with your provider. The fee is charged once for that review, including prescriptions ordered separately that day. Pickup teaching is included. We confirm any delivery charge before payment.
