Vitamin IV Push

A push is a 10 or 20 mL syringe of vitamins given slowly into a vein. Tell your provider before your push if you:

• have G6PD deficiency: high-dose vitamin C can break down red blood cells
• have kidney disease or have had kidney stones: high doses of vitamin C over time can cause oxalate kidney damage
• will have a blood or urine glucose test in the next 24 hours: vitamin C can interfere with some glucose tests
• are allergic or sensitive to cobalt or vitamin B12 (in the Myers push)
