What Does Microneedling Treat?

Microneedling is a powerful treatment option for those looking to address multiple skin concerns without the need for surgery or lasers. By stimulating your body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, microneedling helps restore a smoother, more youthful appearance on the face and body. It’s particularly effective in treating:

Acne

Fine lines

Wrinkles

Large pores

UV skin damage

Rough or uneven skin

Hyperpigmentation

Traumatic scarring

Stretch marks

Acne scarring

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally-invasive treatment that uses a SkinPen device to create thousands of tiny micro-channels in your skin. The controlled injury triggers your body’s natural healing response, producing fresh collagen and elastin. Treats acne scars, wrinkles, uneven texture, and tone.

Safe for all skin types. SkinPen is the only microneedling device with FDA clearance for both acne scars and neck wrinkles.

How Does Microneedling Work?

The SkinPen’s ultra-fine needles puncture the skin at a controlled depth, creating tiny micro-injuries. Your body responds by producing collagen and elastin to repair them, and the new tissue replaces older, damaged skin over the next 4-6 weeks.

FAQ

  • What conditions does microneedling treat?

This treatment is highly effective at reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Microneedling does wonders to help tighten skin and improve texture. Helps reduce the depth of acne scars, especially when received in a series of 10. Stimulates dull skin by improving circulation and renewing radiance. Helps to break up and remove stubborn hyperpigmentation issues such as melasma. Also very helpful in breaking up and lessening the appearance of stretch Marks.

  • Who can be treated with Microneedling?

Microneedling yields amazing results when treating those with mild to moderate skin laxity and/or acne scarring. Those with dark spots and sun damage respond very well to Microneedling. Every skin type can benefit from the Microneedling treatment, however those who have a history of Keloid issues should refrain. Microneedling is perfect for those want great results, but do not wish to experience the downtime which is frequently associated with deeper laser resurfacing treatments.

  • Who cannot be treated with Microneedling?

Though most people can be treated very successfully with Microneedling, there are those who have pre-existing conditions which keep them from being candidates for this service.   The following issues are contraindicated for the Microneedling Procedure: Hemophilia Skin diseases Eczema Allergies Autoimmune diseases History of cold sores History of any Cancer Tendency to keloid

  • Is Microneedling painful?

No! We ensure your comfort with our free medical grade numbing!

  • How long does a Microneedling treatment take?

The microneedling pen will move quickly over the skin, and will feel somewhat prickly, but not very uncomfortable due to the numbing cream. Numbing time is about 30 minutes, and the Microneedling process itself usually takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on skin thickness and target issues. So, the average total treatment time for Microneedling is about one hour.

  • Is there downtime after Microneedling?

Downtime after Microneedling is minimal, but you can expect to have several days of pink skin and some sensitivity. There will most likely be pinpoint bleeding during the treatment, which will stop almost immediately. The skin tends to  take on a “bronzed” appearance for several days post treatment. Then this bronzed outer layer of skin will begin to flake off, revealing a fresh and glowing new you underneath. It is recommended that you stay away from the sun and avoid strenuous exercise for 2 weeks following treatment. Additionally, it is recommended that hot showers, baths, hot-tubs and saunas are avoided for about two weeks after Microneedling as well.

  • What kind of results should I expect from Microneedling?

The best results are achieved by completing a series of treatments with Microneedling. Although results vary from person to person, most will experience a decided improvement in tone and texture of the skin. Fine lines and wrinkles soften dramatically, and scarring becomes significantly less noticeable. Microneedling has gained a strong reputation for rejuvenation sluggish, dull skin. Skin becomes noticeable tighter and smoother after even one treatment.

  • How many treatments of Microneedling will I need?

The number of Microneedling treatments required for amazing results depends on what condition the skin is in when treatments are begun. Most find that a series of 6 or possibly 10 are needed to see truly dramatic changes in the complexion. Most who are hoping to tighten and tone their skin will be on track with 6 treatments. Those who are seeking to diminish the depth of acne scarring generally require a minimum of 8-10 sessions.

  • How often should I be treated with Microneedling?

It is recommended that treatments are spaced 4-6 weeks apart. It is important that there is complete healing before having another session. As the Microneedling procedure begins to stimulate collagen and elastin production, it becomes very important to maintain the momentum with regular treatments. Sticking with a set schedule of appointments yields the fastest and most dramatic results.

  • How much does microneedling cost per treatment?

The price depends on the area treated. You see the price for each area before you book, and you can start with a free consultation if you are not sure what you need.

  • How long do microneedling treatments last?

New tissue collagen and tissue will continue to form for up to a year after microneedling. Maintenance sessions once or twice or year can help your skin retain the improvements from your original treatment.

  • How quickly does microneedling improve skin?

You'll see the best results after a series of microneedling treatments. Generally, clients start to see dramatic skin tightening after 6 to 10 sessions, and reduction scarring after 8 to 10 sessions. We recommend that about 4 to 6 weeks between each microneedling session.

  • What age should you start microneedling?

The right skin treatments for you depend on your skin and your goals. There is no one set age that everyone should get a specific treatment. However, many clients find that starting non-invasive treatments, such as microneedling, in their 30s can be a great way to help maintain youthful skin for decades to come.

  • Is Microneedling Safe?

Microneedling is very safe. Side effects are usually mild, such as a few days of pinkness. However, there are some clients who should avoid microneedling. This includes people who have: hemophilia, eczema, allergies, any autoimmune disease, a history of cold sores, any history of cancer, a tendency to keloid, any skin disease, an active infection of any kind

  • Can I add ezGEL to microneedling?

Yes. ezGEL is a soft gel your provider prepares at your visit from your own platelet-rich fibrin, used with microneedling on the face, neck or chest. See our ezGEL page to learn more and book online.
