IDEAL FOR

Is Moxi Right for You?

Moxi is ideal for patients who want real results without significant downtime. It’s the perfect “lunchtime laser” for busy professionals who can’t take a week off for recovery.

Treatment intensity levels: Your nurse will customize Moxi settings (Level 1, 2, or 3) based on your goals and skin type. Level 1 is gentlest, Level 3 provides the most dramatic results.

Best candidates: Uneven texture, dullness, fine lines, mild sun damage, or anyone wanting to maintain youthful skin. All skin types welcome—Moxi is one of the few lasers safe for darker skin tones.

NOT ideal for: Deep wrinkles, severe scarring, or active acne. Consider Pixel Laser for more aggressive resurfacing.

Need something gentler? Clear + Brilliant has zero downtime but requires more sessions.

What is Moxi Laser?

What is Moxi?

Moxi is Sciton’s non-ablative fractionated laser using 1927nm wavelength technology. Unlike ablative lasers that remove skin layers (and require 7-10 days recovery), Moxi works beneath the surface—creating tiny micro-channels that trigger your body’s natural healing response and collagen production.

The result? Fresher, more radiant skin with only 1-3 days of “social downtime.”

How It Works

Moxi delivers thousands of microscopic laser columns into your skin. Each column:

  • Penetrates the epidermis and upper dermis
  • Triggers collagen remodeling
  • Leaves surrounding tissue intact for rapid healing

Think of it like aerating a lawn—the tiny holes stimulate new growth while the surrounding grass stays healthy.

Your Healing Timeline

Day 1 Mild redness, warm sensation like a sunburn. You can return to normal activities.
Day 2-3 “Sandpaper” texture as skin renews. Makeup is OK after 24 hours.
Day 3-5 Light flaking resolves. Fresh, glowing skin revealed.
Week 2+ Continued collagen remodeling for months after treatment.

Why Moxi is Different

Safe for ALL skin types: Most lasers can’t treat darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick V-VI) due to pigmentation risks. Moxi’s 1927nm wavelength is one of the few lasers FDA-cleared for ALL skin tones—making it ideal for our diverse LA patient base.

Year-round treatment: Unlike aggressive resurfacing, Moxi can be performed even with moderate sun exposure. No need to hide indoors for months.

“Prejuvenation” pioneer: Perfect for patients in their 20s-40s who want to prevent aging signs before they start—or maintain results from more intensive treatments.

Moxi uses Sciton’s FDA-cleared 1927nm thulium laser platform. Results may vary. Consult our medical team to determine if Moxi is right for your skin type and goals.

FAQ

Click on a question to see more

  • Is Moxi safe for dark skin?

Yes! Moxi is one of the few lasers FDA-cleared for ALL skin types, including Fitzpatrick V-VI (darker skin tones). The 1927nm wavelength minimizes pigmentation risks that occur with other lasers.

  • How many Moxi sessions do I need?

Most patients see optimal results with 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Your nurse will customize a treatment plan based on your skin goals. We offer package pricing (save 15%) for the recommended course.

  • How much downtime with Moxi?

1-3 days of "social downtime." Day 1 feels like mild sunburn. Days 2-3 you may have a sandpaper texture. By day 3-5, flaking resolves and fresh skin is revealed. You can wear makeup after 24 hours.

  • Does Moxi hurt?

We apply topical numbing cream before treatment. Most patients describe it as a warm, prickling sensation—far less intense than ablative lasers. The treatment itself takes only 15-20 minutes.

  • How is Moxi different from Clear + Brilliant?

Both are fractionated lasers, but Moxi penetrates deeper and delivers more significant results in fewer sessions. Clear + Brilliant is gentler (0-1 day downtime) but requires 4-6 sessions. Moxi requires 3-4 sessions with 1-3 days downtime. Choose based on your schedule and goals.

  • Can I do Moxi in the summer?

Yes! Unlike many laser treatments, Moxi can be performed year-round—even with moderate sun exposure. This is because the 1927nm wavelength targets water, not melanin, reducing sun-sensitivity concerns.

  • How much does Moxi cost?

Single sessions range from $650 (face only) to $1,050 (face, neck, and chest). 3-session packages save 15%, starting at $1,658. See our pricing section above for current rates.

  • What can Moxi treat?

Moxi addresses uneven texture, fine lines, dullness, mild sun damage, dark spots, and enlarged pores. It's excellent for "prejuvenation" (preventing aging signs) and maintaining results from more intensive treatments.

  • Who performs Moxi treatments?

All laser treatments at Cienega Medical are performed by registered nurses (RNs) under medical director oversight. Our team is Sciton-certified on the MOXI platform.

  • Can I combine Moxi with other treatments?

Yes! Moxi pairs excellently with BBL HEROic—BBL addresses pigment and redness while Moxi improves texture. This combo (BBL + Moxi) is a Sciton-recommended pairing for comprehensive rejuvenation.
