• How Do Lip Injections Work?

  Whether due to aging or personal preference, you can now enhance the symmetry of your facial features using facial injections. Lip fillers involve a series of tiny injections that will build and boost your lip definition. Once you begin your treatment, our nurses will determine the best strategy for placement of the product to achieve your desired outcome.   Lip injections done right will feel cohesive and smooth, with the product virtually undetectable to others. Your new lips will appear as your own, and not “augmented” in a negative way.

• What are the Lip Injections Products Made Of?

  Products that are indicated for use in the lips such as Belotero, Juvederm, Restylane, or Volbella are typically Hyaluronic Acid based fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is found in every cell of your body that keeps your cells plump and hydrated. Hyaluronic Acid holds 1000 times its weight in water, so they are like tiny water balloons. When injected, this substance produces instant volume.

• Do Lip Injections Involve Surgery?

  No. Lip injections require a series of a few small injections to your lips. No surgery, downtime or anesthesia is required.

• How Soon Will I See Results of My Lip Injections?

  Immediately!  Once you receive treatment, results are immediately visible.

• What Kind of Results Should I Expect?

  Because fillers provide immediate volume, you should expect to see some increase in the size or shape of your lips. Some may experience swelling, which is temporary. Some may require additional treatments to achieve their goal size or shape.

• Are Results from Lip Injections Permanent?

  Results from lip injections are long lasting, ranging 3-9 months.  Once your lip goals are achieved, you may return for touch-up sessions as needed *additional fees may apply for touch-ups.

• Do Lip Injections Feel Un-Natural?

  No. When kissing, eating or talking, your new enhanced lips feel just as your own, while virtually undetectable to others.

• Are Lip Injections Safe?

  Yes, because we use water based, FDA cleared product, lips injections are safe.

• Are Lip Injections Painful?

  Typically no sensation is felt during a lip filler because we use a topical medical grade numbing agent as well as numbing agent within the injected product.

• Do You Charge For Numbing?

  No. Topical and injected numbing is provided at no additional cost for customers of Cienega Medical.

• How Long Do Lip Injections Take?

  Your treatment from start to finish will take about 30-45 minutes.  

• I Know Exactly What I Want For My Lips, Can This Be Done?

  Our injection nurses are your partners in helping you achieve your aesthetic goals, so feel free to bring in photos of your goal lips. During your free consultation, you can discuss the possibilities of what can be achieved.

• How Many Treatments Will I Need For Lip Injections?

  Most candidates need just one syringe for their goals, which can be done with just one visit.

• What If I Have Thin or Very Thin Lips?

  Those with a more petite palette may ultimately opt for several injection sessions to achieve their ultimate goals. This may require multiple visits over multiple weeks or months.

• What Happens If I Dislike My Fillers?

  The water based fillers we use are reversible, so if for any reason you end up not loving your new lips, we can reverse the product. *Additional fees may apply.

• Who Should Not Get Lip Injections?

  For those with cold sores or herpes breakouts we recommend to wait until the breakout has completely healed before coming in for lip injections.

• Is There Downtime From Lip Injections?

  You are able to return to normal activities, with the exception of working out or drinking the same day of your injection appointment (as these may increase the possibility of swelling).  

• How Long Does Swelling From Lip Injections Last?

  If you are one to experience swelling or bruising, this typically lasts 3-6 days. Using ice packs or arnica (before and after your treatment) will help reduce swelling.

• What Are The Common Side Effects of Lip Injections?

  As with any injection, bruising or swelling may occur post treatment. Should you have any other concerns, please discuss these with our nurses at your FREE consultation.

• What Should I Do To Get Ready For My Lip Injections?

  We recommend that you refrain from heavy drinking, fish oils or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as Advil for at least 1-3 days before your lip injection treatment, as these may increase your risk for bruising or swelling. Many opt to take Arnica before their appointment to further aid in reducing the chance for swelling or bruising (arnica may be found at your local drugstore).

• Can I Receive Lip Injections Before A Special Event?

  We strongly recommend receiving your lip injections at least 14-21 days prior to any special event or photoshoot you have coming up, as you may experience swelling or bruising.

• What Is The Follow Up Care for Lip Injections?

  For many, no follow up care is needed other than keeping your lips hydrated. In some cases, we may recommend lightly massaging the lips post treatment.

• How Often Do I Have To Come Back For Lip Injections?

  Some may desire another injection session 3 to 6 months after treatment.

• Will My Lips Deflate If I Stop Receiving Injections?

  No. Your lips will return to its natural pre-injected shape when your filler wears down.
