Important Information

Copper peptides used topically are generally regulated as cosmetic ingredients rather than as drugs. GHK-Cu is not an FDA-approved drug, and microneedling results vary from person to person. Your clinician will review whether this treatment is appropriate for your skin before you begin.

What Is Copper Peptide Microneedling?

GHK-Cu is a small copper-peptide complex that occurs naturally in human plasma, where levels decline with age. It has been studied for decades in skin biology and is widely used as an active ingredient in topical skincare. We use it during microneedling: the microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, and the copper peptide is applied to the surface immediately afterward, while those channels are open. The treatment is performed by a licensed clinician at all three of our locations, and is available for the face, the face and neck, or the face, neck and chest.

  • What is GHK-Cu?

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring peptide-copper complex (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine bound to a copper ion) found in human plasma and other body fluids. It is commonly studied as a cosmetic ingredient and appears in many topical skincare formulations. This description is general and educational only.

  • Is GHK-Cu FDA-approved?

No. GHK-Cu is not an FDA-approved drug. Copper peptides used in skincare are generally regulated as cosmetic ingredients rather than as medicines, and no GHK-Cu product is FDA-approved to treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

  • How is GHK-Cu used at Cienega Medical?

We use it topically, applied during a microneedling treatment rather than injected. Microneedling opens controlled micro-channels in the skin, and the copper peptide is applied to the surface right afterward. You can book it for the face, the face and neck, or the face, neck and chest.

  • How do I start?

Book a copper peptide microneedling appointment online and choose the area you want treated. Your clinician will look at your skin and confirm the treatment is right for you before starting.
