Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, the natural signal that prompts the pituitary gland to release growth hormone. Unlike most peptides discussed online, it has an FDA-approved product behind it: under the brand name Egrifta it is approved to reduce excess visceral fat, the deep abdominal fat that surrounds the organs, in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Any use outside that approved indication, including for general body composition, is off-label, and whether it is appropriate for you is a decision a licensed provider makes with you individually.
