What Is IGF-1 LR3?
IGF-1 LR3 is a modified version of insulin-like growth factor 1, a protein the body produces naturally and which plays a role in growth and tissue development. The “LR3” refers to two changes made to the molecule: a substitution at the third amino acid and a short extension added to one end. Together these changes make it bind less readily to the carrier proteins that normally regulate IGF-1, so it stays active in the body considerably longer than the natural version. The modified form was developed as a reagent for laboratory cell culture rather than as a medicine, and it has not been through human clinical trials. It is not FDA-approved, and it is prohibited in competitive sport by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
