What Is Peptide Therapy?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids, the same building blocks that make up proteins, typically joined in sequences shorter than full proteins. The human body produces many peptides naturally, and they have been studied for decades as signaling molecules in biology. Some peptides are the subject of formal pharmaceutical research, while many others discussed online are classified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as unapproved compounds that have not completed the review process required for marketing as drugs. The regulatory status of any individual peptide varies widely, and a small number have received FDA approval for specific, narrowly defined medical uses while most have not.
